Abstract

Hywel Dda Health Board ("HDUHB") has awarded a contract for the provision of an Aruba Central Ready AirWave 8 hardware device and associated licences and support across the Health Board. The primary focus of this contract is to provide AirWave software that sits on the HDUHB Wi-Fi network and enables real-time along with retrospective monitoring to provide the Health Board with comprehensive visibility, control and troubleshooting tools to fully manage their distributed network environment. The requirement will also enhance the Health Boards cyber security protection by providing firewall policies to the different types of Wi-Fi connections within HDUHB to improve network security and help maintain a reliable and secure Wi-Fi network. The solution will be installed centrally at Glangwili General Hospital (GGH), but will cover all four (4) acute hospital sites as well as community sites. The solution enables the digital team to take advantage of current network management technology development to facilitate increased operational efficiency with the device and associated licences capable of compiling detailed reports on the reliability and performance of the Health Boards Wi-Fi infrastructure. These reports can also be used to allow specific Wi-Fi firewall policies to be setup to protect HDUHBs network from cyber or rogue device attacks. The NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) Digital Workplace Solutions (SBS/19/AB/WAB/9411) framework agreement is compliant with UK/EU procurement legislation and provides a compliant route to source effective consumer-orientated technologies across a range of IT infrastructure, hardware, and software areas. This framework includes several potential providers who have achieved inclusion on the framework following a qualification process.
