Abstract

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who are seeking to establish a contract for IT Support for Primary Care Clusters. Individual GP Surgeries in Wales are currently provided with centralised IT support for their hardware and chosen GP system and software needs. Staff members within surgeries have access to training and local IT experts, as well as software forums such as NVUG and EMIS User Group. However, while Vision and EMIS provide some templates and clinical audits, these remain at a national level, leaving an acknowledged gap in support when addressing QOF, prevalence, LES/DES, NICE, MHRA, prescribing indicators and ad hoc LHB demands for data extraction. In addition to this, there is also a gap when addressing GMS contracts, Cluster Projects, Enhanced Services and Training. The expected key outcomes to be generated via this project are; - Data to support population needs assessment in cluster - Guidelines to support cluster projects - Prevalence data for disease registers in line with GMS contract requirements - Outcome data to support quality improvement activity within cluster - Shared learning in terms of improved ways of working across cluster practices - Attending GP meetings when required
