The consultant is expected to…

• collaborate with key people in the Digital Media department, reporting to the digital managers on progress and approaches

• collaborate closely with the Head of Digital, Head of ICT and Chief Operating Officer

• align with our Digital Strategy principles to Work in the Open (Appendix B) and the new 10-year strategy for Amgueddfa Cymru

• assess the current content, navigation and functionality of Amgueddfa Cymru’s website

• understand Amgueddfa Cymru’s website users and visitors, including user behaviour, conversion rates, and dwell time, as well as users’ specific needs in terms of accessibility for both Welsh and English sides of the website.

• understand audience evidence across different Amgueddfa Cymru functions, such as social media, market research and community engagement evaluation

• conduct user research, to inform usability and user journeys

• design and deliver a series of workshops with the aim of capturing ideas and concepts, before synthesising the outputs and incorporating them into the draft proposal and recommendations. At least one of these workshops to be held in the Welsh language.

• define best practice processes and methodology for the design, development and delivery of web-based projects

• Review content, editorial and media governance, ensuring that all workflows fully adhere to the Welsh Language Standards set by the Welsh Government (See Appendix C)

• understand the current commercial platforms programme (including online ticketing and membership), as well as digital approaches and maturity of Amgueddfa Cymru

• offer sound advice on recommendations and relevant design concepts, based on good practice in the cultural sector and previously successful engagements

• provide site maps, process diagrams and wireframes to support potential concepts and/or recommendations

• give clear guidance on what content should be included in future iterations of Amgueddfa Cymru’s web presence, based on research and analysis using sources including but not limited to, Google Analytics

• engage with the key internal and external stakeholders, including trustees if required, across a number of departments of Amgueddfa Cymru to ensure a holistic approach is taken

• advise on technical platforms and solutions where relevant in the delivery of the Discovery Phase

• ensure that our commitment to the Welsh language standards is prominent within the delivery phase. Ensuring that an active bilingual offering is available to users via our online channels. (see Appendix C)

• capture and document any constraints and risks associated with the project

• deliver outcomes in a timely manner

The consultant is not expected to attend site unless it is deemed necessary towards the successful completion of the Discovery Phase.
