Abstract

Sport Wales are looking into the potential of replacing the existing 40 number, 2kw metal halide floodlights on our hockey facility at Sophia Gardens and replace with 40 number, 1.5 kw Phillips LEDs to maintain its reputation as a centre of sporting excellence and facilitate a base for Hockey Wales whilst enabling international hockey events to take place on our state-of-the-art facility. The new 40 number LEDS will then compliment the 8 current 1.5kw Phillips LEDs installed and provide an average horizontal lighting level of approx. 1000 lux.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Sport Wales is seeking to appoint a suitable Contractor to undertake this work at the hockey pitch facility at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. This work must be completed by 31st March 2023.

A summary of the requirements for this project include: - • Removal of the existing halide lights. • Supply, deliver and install new 1.5kw Phillips LEDs to provide average horizontal lighting level of approx 1000 lux • Due to the increased weight of the LED floodlights over the existing conventional floodlights it will be necessary to remove the driver units from each of the 48 LED floodlights (40 new and 8 current) and mount them in cabinets at the base of each column, this is required to ensure the maximum head-weight of the columns is not exceeded • Removal and disposal of waste materials off-site in an environmentally sound manner.
