Abstract

The Family Place Foundation is running a project to support investment in training for Child Care Professionals in Powys: upskilling experienced professionals and providing exciting, quality job opportunities in order to retain people of a working age within the Region, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The project will train and supervise a group of Powys-based child care and family support professionals so that they can achieve accredited training and qualifications. Several elements of the project will be in person and spread across Powys. Successful recipients will achieve the Foundational TheraplayⓇ qualification (equivalent Level 3 qualification). Theraplay is an internationally recognised therapeutic intervention for strengthening relationships. Accredited training will be provided alongside specialist supervision. The project will also train Powys wide early years practitioners and teachers. Please describe the required qualifications and experience your organisation has to fulfil the different elements covered in this notice and the timeframe for delivering each element. Day rates and total project costs including estimated travel expenses also need to be included.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The Family Place Foundation are looking to work with an organisation who have Accredited TheraplayⓇ Trainers and Supervisors who are experts in their field to deliver:

In-person accredited TheraplayⓇ Training to upskill professionals:

A range of accredited Theraplay training

- 1 x four day (9am to 5pm) professional training programme for child care and family practitioners from Local Authority and Health Services (Theraplay level 1 and Marschak Interaction Method) to be delivered in person (central Powys). This training requires two trainers.

- 3 x two day (9.30am - 4.30pm) Theraplay training for educators and pre-school settings (Theraplay in Education and Early Years Settings) to be delivered in person (North, Mid and South Powys). This training requires two trainers.

Accredited Theraplay supervision leading to professional qualification:

A group of recipients to be professionally supervised in order to achieve their qualification as Foundational Theraplay practitioners

- 3 x 3 hour online supervision groups (supervised by qualified Theraplay supervisor) to be provided 10 times during the year (30 groups total). Each group is facilitated by one supervisor.

- Completion of qualification paperwork by supervisor for 12 students

Additional online specialist training:

- 3 x 2 hour specialist online training workshops (Theraplay Consultation Group), open to all who have attended the accredited training, to be provided to consolidate learning and develop provision in their local area. Each session is facilitated by one trainer.

- 2 x 2 hour Overview online Theraplay Workshops open to all professionals across Powys (unlimited numbers) to disseminate the model and increase coherence and networking. Each session is facilitated by one trainer.

Administrative support

- Production of appropriate communication materials about the various trainings to the Foundation to allow dissemination and booking

- Trainer and supervisor input to the evaluation process

The project needs to be delivered by 31 December 2024. Applicants are required to confirm they can meet this timeframe and if not, what elements could be delivered within this timescale.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

- The trainer required for the Theraplay level 1 and MIM training needs to be an accredited TheraplayⓇ Institute Trainer.

- The lead trainer required for the Theraplay in Education and pre-school settings needs to be an approved TheraplayⓇ UK trainer and to have undertaken the specific train the trainer process for the particular course (delivered by Theraplay UK). The second trainer needs to have undertaken Level 1 Theraplay training and be experienced in delivering theraplay.

- The supervisor/s need to be a fully certified Theraplay Practitioner and an approved supervisor with the TheraplayⓇ Institute and TheraplayⓇ UK.

- The trainer for the additional online trainings and consultation sessions needs to be an accredited TheraplayⓇ Institute Trainer.
