Abstract

BBNPA are seeking a consultant for six months to support the development of its major grants fundraising strategy and bid writing. The primary purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver a fundraising strategy for income diversification from major donors (foundations, trusts) and write bids to key targets, in support of the nature, climate, water, people and place missions as laid out in the Future Bannau - Dyfodol y Bannau. Working with the Head of Natural Capital Development, the consultant will support income diversification and partnerships, with a key focus on securing major grants from foundations and trusts. The role will be integral to the Authority achieving the desired step change in both culture and approach to these aspects of our income diversification strategy. The role will need to be up to 3 days per week depending on bid opportunities and progress with the fundraising strategy. The key deliverables under this consultancy will include: 1) Research, design and deliver a fundraising strategy in co-production with key internal and external stakeholders that maximises and diversifies major grant income to support the BBNPA and its partners to achieve the Y Bannau missions. Ensure high quality funding which reflects the priorities of BBNPA and partners projects and programmes and is aligned to internal policies, processes and ethical standards.  2) Write bids for a selection of targeted donors working with colleagues across the Nature Recovery and Climate Change Directorate and the Planning and Place Directorate, including the communities’ team, to ensure funding opportunities are appropriately matched to priorities. 3) Develop and manage internal corporate and financial reporting, monitoring and evaluation of major grant fundraising activities, developing sound governance systems. Work with BBNPA colleagues to accurately forecast and develop KPIs across the planning cycle.  Work with the Finance team and other corporate colleagues, to ensure the appropriate management and reporting of funding activities. 4) Work in close coordination with the Head of Natural Capital Developments on stacking and blending of funding and finance opportunities with the corporate sector.   Build and manage new external relationships with major donors and stakeholders that align with BBNPA values

BBNPA are seeking a consultant for six months to support the development of its major grants fundraising strategy and bid writing. 3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

We are looking for a person with proven experience leading fundraising and strategy development from design to delivery (bid writing) from major donors (trusts, foundations, governments) and achieving successful outcomes. This may include in the charity environment, or a related area.  Experience of developing and managing donor relationships, fundraising practices, regulation and testing novel approaches  is essential as is knowledge of current fundraising trends, emerging opportunities, and best practice.

The person will have a proven ability to build strong and lasting donor and partner relationships with a range of external supporters and influence and negotiate with external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. They will have excellent coordination and organisational skills, communication and problem-solving skills with a strong working knowledge of key digital tools including social media platforms, CRM/contact databases, Microsoft Office Suite.  

 The person will need to be self-motivated with high levels of determination and willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities in a complex delivery environment.  An interest in the natural environment and commitment to sustainable development and a desire to contribute positively to the ethos and values of the National Park Authority is desirable along with a collaborative and supportive outlook. Ideally, they will have a full driving licence and be able to work at BBNPA headquarters in Brecon a minimum of 50% of their time.
