Abstract

Cardiff and Vale Local Heath Board's Cardiology department currently have an allocated ambulance for dedicated use to utilise 5 days a week 6.30am to 6.30pm to transport ACS patients from any Welsh Hospital site into University Hospital of Wales (UHW) to receive treatment before returning them to the pickup location. Upon occasion, there is also a requirement to collect a patient from any English Hospital/Trust. The Health Board have a requirement for an interim 6 month contract to continue current provision whilst the scoping of any future needs and tender process is undertaken and therefore, are proposing to award an interim contract to St John Ambulance for this period.
