Description of the contract
The Welsh Government Export Action Plan sets out two commitments relating to an Export Conference. These are:
- Deliver the annual Export Conferences to promote the benefits of exporting to businesses across Wales, providing an opportunity for them to find out about market opportunities, export procedures and the support available from Welsh Government and our delivery partners.
- Bring partners together periodically and as part of our Export Conference to share experiences of supporting exporters and to explore opportunities to refine our support to meet current and future needs.
Over the last 10 years, we have hosted an export conference in a range of different formats, all of which have delivered against the aims of promoting the benefits of exporting, as well as addressing issues around market (country) access and highlighting market opportunities. Two conferences were held in March 2023 in South Wales at the Cardiff city stadium and in North Wales at the Village hotel, with over 250 delegates participating.
The conferences will have a number of aims:
1. Promote the benefits of exporting, using established exporters to share their story and inspire others to export.
2. Target potential exporters and “unearth” companies not known to Welsh Government to encourage and support the development of their export business.
3. Highlight and support companies through the changing global trading environment, including the changing geo-political environment, trading trends, energy and logistical cost increases and the ongoing impacts following the departure of the UK from the EU, and provide advice and information on how to progress these opportunities.
4. Involve stakeholders and partner organisations who can provide companies with support for their export business.
5. Realise two of the commitments of the Export Action Plan for Wales.
