Abstract

Farming Connect is a high profile, integrated project which supplies focused training, support and advice, delivered through a pan-Wales programme of knowledge transfer activities, specialist advice and support for innovation. A key objective is to increase the emphasis on business-focused behaviour, therefore, improving profitability, competitiveness and environmental performance of farm, forestry and food businesses in Wales. Farming Connect is funded through Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014 - 2022, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government. To deliver one to one on farm diversification clinics to Farming Connect registered businesses who express an interest across Wales. We are looking for specialists to deliver clinics on diversification, this could include all types of diversification including tourism, added value products, renewable energy, leisure activities etc. The clinics will comprise of a farm visit (2 hrs) to produce a clinic report to be provided to each business in relation to the visit. The key requirements for each clinic will be as follows: Arrange, co-ordinate and undertake the visit for the diversification clinic Provide a clinic report to each business to include: -Business Details -Introduction and definition to the topic -Outline of the diversification opportunity and resources -Opportunities for the diversification opportunity -Marketing options for the diversification opportunity -Financial projections -Action plan for next steps Once each report is complete the report is to be forwarded to the business and a Farming Connect central email: fcclinics@menterabusnes.co.uk Farming Connect staff will promote the clinics and recruit eligible farm businesses to take up the clinics. There is a maximum of 1 clinic per business. One nominated staff member will then pass the business details onto the awarded company. It will be the consultancy company’s responsibility to contact the business within 5 working days to get an appointment booked to undertake the visit. The report will be completed within 1 month of the farm visit.
