Abstract

Cardiff & Vale University Health Board services are dependent upon accurate and timely coded clinical data. Due to staff shortages and difficulty in recruiting and retaining staff (who take approximately 18 months to train), the UHB sought to enlist contract coders who can provide a level of assurance over both the quality and quantity of their work through the use of agency staffing via a National Framework. There is no alternative means of achieving Welsh Government targets.
