Explanation
The Met. Office is the recognised sole provider of quality control and audit services for the rainfall observation network across the UK. The UK measurement authorities (NRW, EA, SEPA and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Northern Ireland) all receive these services from the Met. Office. The Met Office service is compliant with agreed national and international standards.No other provider could provide the service to the standard, timescale or in compliance with system requirements.
