The council replaced its fleet of heavy plant vehicles on a contract hire basis with routine maintenance included.
Due to a change in the waste strategy being delivered in 23/24 in which the way the council processes incoming materials, the fleet and waste facilities must be re-configured to reflect the new strategy and law.
The extension is to allow for continuation of current services and to allow time to plan for a future competitive process once the re-configuration is complete.

VII.2) Information about modifications
VII.2.1) Description of the modifications
The waste strategy being delivered in 23-24 changes the way CCC processes recycling material. This means the existing waste facilities (Material Recycling Facility and Waste Transfer Station) require reconfiguration to process new waste streams and to comply with current NWR legislation for fire protection.
Redesign of the facilities are in progress, however until the new service is in place it is uncertain what type/numbers of plant equipment . A 2-year extension on the existing plant contract will allow time to determine future requirements.
