Minimum standards and qualification required
1. SCOPE : To complete the full schedule of works specified in Priory Gatehouse, Usk - Schedule of Urgent Works 10395_SW_AA_01.xlsx
2. BACKGROUND INFORMATION : The Priory Gatehouse, Usk is a late medieval Grade I listed building, requiring urgent works for its immediate preservation of the building and public safety.
A full schedule of works, considered immediately necessary has already been compiled by a Conservation Accredited Engineer.
The schedule includes provisional specification for materials, extent and methods of work, however will be subject to final onsite confirmation, once full access and investigation begins.
2. REQUIREMENTS: No Listed Buildings Consent, Planning Permission or Biodiversity licenses are required for the work specified. These matters have been resolved in advance.
The works are highly specialised and the building is of significant national importance as a C16 gatehouse, directly abutting the Schedule Monument to the priory complex and Roman legionary fortress.
As such the successful company will be able to demonstrate extensive experience of successful conservation repair work on highly listed buildings, both in the management of the projects and in their expert tradespeople specialising in traditional building methods of the that era and contemporary conservation techniques specified.
As part of the tender bid, the management of the site, all access and equipment, Health and safety, professional and Employers Liability and public indemnity will be the responsibility of the contractor.
5. CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND REVIEW:
The works will be subject to on site inspections at key stages and written agreement on any alteration in scope or extent of work, a schedule of which shall be proposed by the successful contractor, prior to the commencement of works on site.
