Abstract

Bridgend County Borough Council wishes to invite suitably experienced providers to Tender for the provision of a service to unpaid carers across the County Borough of Bridgend. Providers will be expected to comply with this specification as well as other information the Council or Welsh Government may provide, particularly in relation to the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/anaw/2014/4/section/3 Strategic Aim of the Service: A. Work with partners to improve recognition, understanding and assessment of carers and their wellbeing needs. B. Ensure access to information, advice, and assistance for carers in getting the most appropriate support. C. Work with partners to expand the range of support available for carers in their local communities, enabling and maintaining their capacity to care and to have a life alongside their caring role. D. Development, promotion and access to community and mainstream opportunities that support unpaid carers. E. Where required, provide a mechanism to receive, document, and distribute a range of grant funding for unpaid carers including from Welsh Government sources. Bridgend County Borough Council had previously undertaken stakeholder engagement in co-producing a service pathway model for carers that will enable carers in Bridgend and the people they care for to maintain their independence and wellbeing. The pathway model is a key element of the Council’s ongoing approach to helping people to become more self-reliant, so they may live as independently as they are able. In recognition of the impact of the pandemic, further engagement with unpaid carers has taken place and findings will be available to inform tender submissions where requested. Improving the availability of information which supports carers is highlighted, recognising many carers are unaware of what support is available to them.

Description of the goods or services required

Bridgend County Borough Council wishes to invite suitably experienced providers to Tender for the provision of a service to unpaid carers across the County Borough of Bridgend. Providers will be expected to comply with this specification as well as other information the Council or Welsh Government may provide, particularly in relation to the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014

Strategic Aim of the Service:
