Abstract

Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) are seeking to commission the community specialist sector to provide a Domestic Violence Advocate (DVA) post based within the Emergency Department of Bronglais General Hospital to be the point of contact for victims of abuse and signpost and enable access to appropriate community support services. The contract is for a maximum of 2 years with no guarantee of an option to extend. The post will be hosted by a regional commissioned community-based service provider, which will assist with ensuring that local knowledge of services assists with the multiagency working processes required, providing seamless support for the most vulnerable. For the purpose of this project, this post will not be part of the Mid and West Wales regional IDVA contract. This post will work differently to regional IDVA pathways, as the threshold of referral will not be limited to medium to high-risk abuse, all victims who disclose abuse in the emergency department, not only those that are identified as being at ‘high risk’ of harm will be offered support.
