Abstract

The Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence (MEECE) is an ERDF and Swansea Bay City Deal funded project led by ORE Catapult and based in Pembroke Dock. MEECE aspires to measure the underwater background noise at prospective tidal energy development sites and also existing tidal turbines in the Milford Haven waterway and Welsh coastal waters with hydrophones held in a bespoke frame fixing the hydrophone head at a minimum of 1m above the seabed for continuous measurements over 30 days periods. The collected data will be used for impact studies related to the installation of offshore renewable energy systems. The purchase of this equipment will be paid for by ERDF and Swansea Bay City Deal funding.

Relates to the following project/programme financed by EU Community Funds: Tenderers are to be aware that funding for this Project is being provided by the European Regional Development Fund (“ERDF”) through the Welsh Government. This project is part funded through the Swansea Bay City Deal. The Swansea Bay City Deal is being funded by the UK Government, the Welsh Government, the public sector and the private sector. The investment programme is being led by Swansea Council, Carmarthenshire Council, Neath Port Talbot Council and Pembrokeshire Council, in partnership with Swansea University, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Swansea Bay University Health Board and Hywel Dda University Heath Board.
