Abstract

We are seeking a partner agency to work with us collaboratively on a brand identity and positioning exercise designed to improve the consistency of the presentation of the brand and increase awareness of the University and its distinctive offer externally with the goal of becoming more relevant to target markets, more competitive and more recognisable. We require a full service agency to take a considered and consultative approach to the development of a new brand strategy for the University to cover multiple audience types and outline a clear strategy for sub-brands. The agency appointed will be required to develop strong bilingual (Welsh and English) brand concepts, as well as associated visuals, messaging and content which can be adapted to serve a number of key target audiences, including: Prospective students – UG and PG - home Prospective students UG and PG – international Prospective staff Internal – staff and students Students studying with international academic partners Corporate (e.g. partners, funding bodies, Welsh Government, business and industry) The successful agency will be expected to understand that this must be a whole-university project where everyone has the opportunity to be involved. In order to arrive at an authentic, yet aspirational, positioning statement and brand identity, the agency must build in time to undertake meaningful and ongoing engagement with the student community, including the Students’ Union, staff at all levels of the organisation, senior management and the Board of Governors, high schools, academic partners, as well as other local and regional stakeholders, and to work closely with key staff from the University’s Marketing and Recruitment Directorate as well as other key departments throughout all stages of the project. The indicative Targeted contract dates will commence on 9th January 2023 until 5th May 2023 (which is subject to confirmation)

Total quantity or scope of tender

The summary of the scope of this services contract will be follows (a full list of deliverables is provided in Appendix 1):

Delivery of a new positioning statement, brand identity, associated brand architecture and brand assets for Wrexham University, following consultation with key internal and external stakeholders.

Complete set of brand guidelines, including guidelines around the use of visual assets, messaging and positioning. This should include examples of how brand assets should be used and highlighting potential incorrect use.

Provide updates/presentations to the WGU 2030 Steering Committee, the Brand and Identity Working Group, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Board at appropriate points in the project to include: outline the process to be followed; present initial concepts; present final brand concept and assets.

Rollout of new brand to the Marketing and Recruitment Directorate, providing expert guidance on applying the brand across a range of media and platforms including digital, print, film and out-of-home.

Internal launch of the new brand with a wide range of staff and students invited.

Plan for a full launch of the new brand.

There are currently approximately 10 sub-brands. We are looking for a uniform approach to sub-brands that can be adapted as the need arises. Examples would include sub-brands such as ‘Wrexham school of Art’.

We will require final identities for approximately 4 sub-brands.
