Abstract

Background: The Countryside & Wildlife Team (C&W Team) of Neath Port Talbot Council (the Council) have chosen three disused sites to repurpose into mini nature reserves as part of our Stepping Stones nature reserves project. This project intends to restore disused areas of grey into new green areas for biodiversity, allowing local communities to have greater access to, and interact with their local biodiversity. The project is funded through the Local Places for Nature fund. Project Overview: The Countryside & Wildlife Team of Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking to appoint the services of a contractor to remove areas of tarmac and fencing and replace that with 4 Inches of nutrient poor subsoil. Each site has specific requirements, on some sites the tarmac will be used to create mounds for hibernacula, with an additional layer of subsoil to cover these mounds. All waste material will be removed from site. Project Timescale: Neath Port Talbot Council’s Countryside and Wildlife Team are looking for a suitable contractor to deliver the above project to be completed by the end of December 2021, and are therefore inviting quotations. Request for quotation documents and any queries can be directed to Sarah Williams on 01639686724 or e-mail s.williams28@npt.gov.uk
