• Double width slide – wide enough for 2 e.g. Parent/carer and child. - Variety of access to accommodate different needs and abilities.

• Swings to include at least 1 basket type swing as well as a choice of others.

• Low level and high-level sensory experiences – be imaginative e.g. tactile, audio, visual etc.

• Rocking/spinning/bouncing experiences to suit varied sizes and abilities

• Climbing experiences to include low and multi-level experiences not just height driven.

Access

• Surfacing must be wheelchair/buggy friendly.

• Gates wide enough and manageable for wheelchairs and buggies.

• Seating for all to be near play equipment, some with table.

• Adequate space around and easy access to the equipment.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Supply and install the following:

Essential Equipment

A consultation was carried out with local school children and as a result the following equipment has been selected to be themed on the historic Mumbles railway.

Minimum requirements but not limited to;

• Multiplay themed as a tram (Mumbles railway) if possible with as many play opportunities as possible to be installed suitable upto 14yrs (Slide, Climbing Wall, Pole and Rope Net multi access points to include one point for easy access points) – Promoting; Climbing, Balancing, Communicating, Exploring, Interaction and Challenge. Climbing experiences to include low and multi-level experiences not just height driven. Offers a variety of access points to accommodate different needs and abilities to include a gradual incline for ease of access that may also include a combination of ropes/climbing wall as part of the incline. Together with a wet pour, stand-alone surface with graphics to help with the theme i.e. tracks etc.

• Double 4 metre high space net with appropriate safety surfacing (grass mats or wet pour).

• 30m zip line with a grass mats safety surface.

• Cantilever group swing with grass mat surface.

• Above ground carousel

• Double bay (4 seats) flat swing on grass mats

• Double bay (4 seats) cradle seat swing to incorporate a mother and baby swing plus grass mat safety surface.

• Replacement of the 4 spring see saw onto existing bark safety surface.

• Various springers within the existing bark safety surface.

• Drop down carousel/swing (cable way type seats)

• Tall free standing slide onto existing bark area.

• Talking Tubes

Safety Surfacing

1. Safety surfacing is not limited to grass mats.

2. Wet pour surfacing would be preferable if budget allows.

Note .A durable rubber safety surface that allows adequate drainage, whilst creating ease of access to all equipment. The rubber safety surface is to include a minimum 150mm Type 1 mot sub base.

Optional equipment

- If budget and design allows, we welcome additional items that will be considered to be innovative and exciting for the benefit of teenagers.
