Abstract

The Welsh Government Digital Transformation Fund is funding collaborative projects that aspire to solve shared problems within local government in a common way. Rather than address a single common problem, we have identified an opportunity to address multiple common problems across a range of public services utilising Internet of Things  (IoT) technology. The IoT has been identified globally as one of the biggest growth areas for digital transformation in the coming years. The potential benefits across the range of Public Service applications through the gathering of data for action and decision making is enormous. In collaboration with our City Deal partners (Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council , Pembrokeshire County Council, Carmarthenshire County Council) Swansea Council, as the Lead Authority, has been awarded funding to build and test the implementation of sensors in rural litter bins and communal domestic waste bins to reduce complaints and improve operational efficiency through undertaking an Alpha Project.

Description of the goods or services required
