The Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex (‘the Essex PCC’) is seeking proposals from firms wishing to be considered for appointment as statutory auditors for a 3 year period commencing with the audit of the financial statements for the year ending 31.3.2018, with the option to extend for 2 years in 1 year extensions.
The audit must comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
The audit will be conducted with regard to the duties of ‘local auditors’ set out in the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 (the Act) and the National Audit Office's Code of Audit Practice. In particular, the auditor will need to be satisfied that the accounts comply with legislative requirements; that proper practices have been observed in preparing the accounts; and that the statement presents a true and fair view.

Tenderers will be required to complete a Suitability assessment which the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner will use to evaluate suppliers economic and financial standing, technical capacity and ability to ensure they meet the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner's minimum requirements. This will include, but not be limited to; name, address, telephone number, contact details, status (sole trader, partnership, private or public company) together with the length of trading, parent or holding company details and other subsidiary companies within the group (if applicable).
