Abstract

NHS NEL Commissioning Support Unit on behalf of NHS Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), is seeking to appoint a provider for the care navigation and social prescribing service. The CCG and Camden Council currently commission a number of services which provide aspects of social prescribing, including elements of care navigation, signposting to services and providing information and advice. The constituent services have undergone comprehensive reviews to detail the outcomes they deliver and whether the service delivers value for money. These changes have been sought to result in an accessible, coordinated social prescribing pathway which focuses on delivering effective outcomes for Camden residents. The CCG intends to award a consolidated service contract to a single provider, using the open procedure under the “Light Touch Regime” rules for the purpose of the public contracts Regulations 2015.

Care navigation and social prescribing services are about using community-based services, alongside traditional statutory health and social care services to help improve health and wellbeing. Local non-clinical social prescribing services support people to make positive choices to promote good health and emotional well-being and can often provide a practical option that can support existing medical treatments for patients. The preventative interventions put in place by social prescribing services help provide support to residents earlier, helping to reduce and delay the need for costly interventions.
