Abstract

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is seeking to improve its existing infrastructure which requires the construction of new narrow gauge railway station platform approximately 92m long, 12.0m wide and 0.5m high, the construction will include the building of a toilet block whose foundations are built into the platform, as well as a covered waiting area canopy. Foundations to be dug along perimeter with block wall construction topped with coping stones from reclaimed material supplied free issue, area to be infilled and tarmacadam surface. 2 Contract Details

2.1 Title

Platform and Toilets Build - Wales to the World - Vale of Rheidol Railway

2.2 Description of the goods or services required

The canopy supplied is currently erected in a different location, the work requires this structure to be dismantled and relocated to the new platform and installation of guttering and drainage.

Toilet block is a wooden frame construction building clad in 3” corrugated iron with convex curved roof and fitted out as per spec. to mimic a 1920s/30s style Great Western Railway Pagoda building which were common on rural platforms; the internal fitting is to resemble a 1930s period station lavatory with all fittings to suit. The toilet block construction includes connecting to the Public Foul Sewer to be laid underneath the car park and Park Avenue.

The following is also included in the tender but supplied free issue for installation; fencing along the length of the back of the platform as well as partition fencing down the centre with gates & posts, ABERYSTWYTH station sign with cast iron posts, platform screen and cast iron/fabricated posts, lamp posts and lanterns to be installed alongside electrician.
