Oakley Wood Crematorium was established in 1971 within Oakley Wood, a site having natural beauty and giving an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. In March 2009, two new LPG cremators as well as mercury abatement equipment were commissioned and installed; since then over 18 000 cremations have taken place. To enable operation of the cremators and ancillary equipment, in compliance with the requirements of cremation legislation including the Secretary of State’s Process Guidance Note PG5/2(12) (as amended or replaced from time to time), and permit to operate issued in accordance with environmental permitting regulations.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
A PIN was issued as a call for competition, inviting expressions of interest to participate in tendering for the provision of servicing and maintenance for crematoria equipment. The PIN also acted as the SSQ stage with selected suppliers being taken straight to the tendering stage. The PIN was advertised for 35 days, following which, all suppliers who have expressed of interest were contacted to reaffirm their interest in bidding for the contract. Upon receipt of their confirmation, all qualified suppliers were invited to tender.
