The Emergency function covers the provision of a 365/24/7 gas emergency service complying with the relevant regulatory standards of service requirements. WWU responds to circa 90,000 Emergency calls per annum, with the regulatory requirement to attend within 1 or 2 hours in 97 % of all cases. The Emergency function also undertakes purge and relight activities, re-checks for escapes, around 30,000 ‘safety checks’ and can support the other business functions.
