Description of the contract
Llanrwst Library is relocating to the ground-floor of the former Glasdir Business and Conference Centre.
Conwy County Borough Council wishes to create a new rural community hub /one stop shop for rural Conwy, bringing a number of public services under one roof. The first phase of this will be achieved by:
1. Relocating the library to the ground floor of Glasdir;
2. Creating a new Council information point / one stop shop for rural Conwy to include access to a range of council services eg Revenues and Benefits Assessment Service; Blue Badge applications, Communities for Work, Rural Business Advice, Licensing and Trading Standards, Registrars and Housing Services.
3. Providing a private and confidential space with PC and monitor where customers can remotely connect to other council services and other agencies.
4. In partnership with the health and social care sector, developing the library into a ‘therapeutic landscape’, using library spaces and resources to support mental and physical wellbeing.
This contract has been awarded to design and supply library furniture and fittings for the new library which should achieve a relaxing and welcoming environment that promotes reader development and which is
consistent with the principles and approach taken in other Conwy County libraries.
