Abstract

Both within and outside of the warranty period BHC will be able to call upon the successful supplier (via its appointed agent if appropriate) within a reasonable timeframe (according to the urgency of the support issue) to provide on-site technical assistance. The successful supplier will be required:

(a) to be available on-site to provide technical assistance in relation to the drivetrain (which incorporates the gearbox, shaft and propellers), engine, other critical systems or hull damage within 48 hours of BHC's request; and

(b) to supply any spare parts required by BHC in a timely fashion.

The pilot boat must comply with the minimum requirements of the Small Commercial Vessel and Pilot Boat Code of Practice and be issued with a construction certificate from a recognized UK load line assigning authority (as detailed in Section 4.2.2.4 of the Code). The pilot boat shall be delivered fully operational and coded for use at the earliest possible date.

The pilot boat particulars are as follows:

Dedicated pilot vessel with diesel propulsion system

Principle Dimensions

• LOA of Between 15m and 18m

• Beam OA >4m

• Draught 0.9m-2m

• Approximate Displacement in operating conditions 20-25 tonnes

• Maximum Speed ≥ 25 knots

• Service Speed at 85% or MCR of builder's engine choice in operating conditions with 6 persons to be a minimum 20-23 knots

• Minimum fuel capacity 1600 litres or 16 hours operational endurance at the service speed.

Classification and Coding

The vessel will be registered in Belfast and must be constructed, equipped and outfitted in accordance with and to the highest standard required by:

• The UK Maritime and Coast Guard Agency Code of Practice for the Safety for Small Commercial Vessels and Pilot Boats - The Workboat Code Edition 2 Amendment 1. Built as a dedicated pilot boat and certificated for operations in Category 3 waters (20 miles from a safe haven) but also capable of being coded for operations in Category 2 waters (60 miles from a safe haven) should BHC wish at any stage to seek certification for Category 2 operations.

• Classification Society Rules.

• ISO 12217 Design Category

This specification should be read in conjunction with these standards. In the event of any conflict between BHC's specification for the pilot boat and these standards, the applicable standards shall prevail.

BHC has entered into an agreement with a supplier for the supply of a pilot boat. Under the terms of that agreement, BHC shall acquire and commission a pilot boat for the transportation of pilots between Belfast Harbour and vessels in Belfast Lough. BHC may (at its discretion) require maintenance and/or spare parts for the pilot boat from the successful supplier. BHC shall retain the option of purchasing such services from the successful supplier for a period of up to 10 years following supply of the pilot boat.
