Abstract

The Department’s Brain Injury Reduction Programme sets out a plan to support NHS maternity and neonatal services to achieve the Department’s ambition.<br/>1.3 The plan will improve and reduce unwanted variance in intrapartum services culture through projects to develop consensus in clinical best practice together with the guidance, multi-professional training and practice support tools for adoption and embedding in all NHS maternity services with a focus on:<br/>1.3.1 assessment, escalation and action of fetal deterioration in labour; and<br/>1.3.2 delivery of an impacted fetal head during Caesarean section (CS).
