Abstract

Rhododendron ponticum (Rp.) eradication work to a prescribed non-chemical methodology (detailed in the ITQ downloadable from additional documents on this portal) in the Elan Valley. Initially this work will consist of a 5 day trial during which contractors will be accompanied by a member of the Celtic Rainforests LIFE project team. As described in the methodology contractors will use winches, chainsaws/diamond chainsaws, bill hooks, crowbars and garden forks to uproot the central rootball of the Rp bushes. Once the trial has established the efficacy of this work and how long it takes to work through an area of scattered rhododendron, we hope to issue a contract for sufficient time to cover all the woodlands and a surrounding buffer zone in the Elan Valley (see map on downloadable ITQ). However this invitation to quote refers only to the initial trial: so please quote for 5 days of however many operatives you think will be needed for the work.
