Abstract

HCC is seeking to award a contract to a service provider for the provision of auditing activities for verifying the origin of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef products for a three-year duration, commencing on 01 July 2026. HCC act as guardians of the PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef designations. These PGI designations are part of the UK Geographical Indication (GI) schemes, administered by Defra, which protect PDO, PGI, and TSG product names in Great Britain. These schemes are the direct domestic successor to the EU system originally created by Regulation (EC) No 510/2006. In order to fulfil its responsibilities and to ensure that the integrity of the PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef designations is protected, HCC is seeking a service provider to support the authentication and verification of branded PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef across the supply chain (from processing to consumer facing). As part of the service the provider will undertake auditing activities to verify the origin of branded products. Total quantity or scope of tender

The proposed Contract length is an initial 33-month period to 31 March 2029, with the option to extend up to a further 12-months instalment at the sole discretion of Hybu Cig Cymru, to 31 March 2030.

The anticipated Contract value is up to £30,000 (+VAT) per annum, for a potential Contract value of up to £112,500 (+VAT) over the total potential term.
