Life Sciences Hub Wales requires the provision and continued avaiability of a professional, effective and
accurate English to Welsh translation service covering the full spectrum of written content which includes, but not limited to, the following:
- English to Welsh translation for social media. This will require a flexible approach, including, in some instances, quick turnaround (same day) for reactive content. Consideration must also be made for social media word and/or character count restrictions.
- English to Welsh translation of news articles, blog posts and marketing material (various).
- English to Welsh translation of privacy notices, legislative documents, procurement documentation, legal contract documentation and licences (etc).
- English to Welsh translation of HR-aligned content, including job descriptions, person specifications,
contracts (etc).
- English to Welsh translation of internal communications, for example newsletters and intranet content (etc).
Please note that the list above is provided for indicative purposes only at this stage and is not to be
considered as the full extent of the Life Sciences Hub Wales requirement.
The successful supplier must ensure that all translation is meaningful, relatable and appropriate for the Life Sciences Hub Wales’s Welsh language audiences. A consistent tone of voice is to be maintained that
matches the Life Sciences Hub Wales tone of voice guidelines, and consideration must be made for effective and resonant translation (e.g. recognising that direct word for word translation will not always be suitable).
As well as aligning to the Life Sciences Hub Wales tone of voice, all English to Welsh translation must
remain suitable for circulation to and/or use by the main Life Sciences Hub Wales stakeholders, including
organisations operating within health, social care, Welsh Government, academia and industry
The successful supplier must have the experience, expertise, processes and/or systems in place to ensure
that suitable Welsh translation is available to cover the full breadth of industry terminology utilised within Life Sciences Hub Wales material, including life sciences, medical and scientific terms and language.
The successful supplier should build a lexicon bank of relevant life sciences (et al) terminology to ensure pace and consistency through all ongoing translation.
The successful supplier must ensure that all translation is submitted accurately and timely in all instances, advising of the likely turnaround in each case and delivering to timescale. 100% accuracy is expected, across translation and content (e.g. consistent hashtagging for social media etc).
As an estimate of pace, Life Sciences Hub Wales would expect the successful supplier to aim for a target of 3,000 words translated per day.
