Abstract

With support from the UK Government’s Local Regeneration Fund, Bridgend CBC and the Arts Council of Wales, the Grand Pavilion is currently undergoing a £26million re-development. The re-development strives not just to conserve the building's heritage but to transform the Grand Pavilion into a sustainable and accessible building; socially, economically, environmentally and physically. We are seeking bids from appropriately experienced companies for the interior design concept, furniture layout planning, product specification; procurement and management of furniture supply chain for the Grand Pavilion with focus on six key space areas. These are: 1. Lower ground floor bar and flexible space 2. Ground floor multi-use space (conference, meeting, interval) 3. Ground floor café / bar 4. First floor roof top pavilion east – bar / restaurant / outdoor balcony 5. First floor roof top pavilion west – meeting space 6. Lower ground floor staff office space and office breakout The commission is to include: • Research, concept development, client workshop and interior design with liaison as necessary with Awen and BCBC Conservation Officer and project architects, Purcell • Full room by room specification, layout plans with supplier estimates • Subject to client authorisation and budget, oversight and management of supply of fixtures, fittings, and furnishings, including soft furnishings and light fixtures (where not in main contract). • Guidance for building contractors on any specific finishes, paint specification and decoration • Build of furniture, installation and disposal of packaging as necessary • Collation of warranties and guarantees in a pack • Effective liaison with the appointed building contractor to ensure timely delivery of relevant fixtures and fittings

Description of the goods or services required

Deliverables

• A cohesive interior design concept that marries texture, colour and materials to meets the scheme’s objectives with consideration given to:

o Look and feel of finishes and materials

o Locally produced handicrafts, artwork and photography

• Support the development of a paint and furnishings colour palette that can be utilised throughout the building

• Providing expert knowledge, appraisal, and recommendations on off-the-shelf and made-to-order furniture items from a range of manufacturers and suppliers, including specialist / bespoke furniture that meet agreed budgetary constraints

• Providing expert knowledge, appraisal, and recommendations on off-the-shelf and made-to-order feature lighting that meet agreed budgetary constraints

• Providing a comprehensive and costed interior design and FF&E strategy that meet the budget and delivery timeframe for the overall project

• Managing all procurement, delivery and fit out/installation of furniture and furnishings

• Ensuring effective liaison with appointed building contractor on relevant supply timelines of light fittings

Minimum standards and qualification required

All submissions will be assessed as pass or fail to the responses you provide with regards to the following:

• financial strength of your organisation and any sub-contractors

• proof of adequate insurance cover in place

• Health and Safety information to ensure proper regard has been taken of the relevant statutory requirements.

Only submissions passing this initial assessment will be considered for further assessment.
