Abstract

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire has awarded 12 number operators to a framework to provide vehicle recovery and other property services in the county of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The framework also includes the long-term and short term storage of vehicles.

The appointed operators are required to recover vehicles and other property (such as bulky items), providing storage facilities in accordance with the Constabulary's requirements to meet the operational and strategic policing needs throughout the two counties of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The Constabulary employs its own in-house vehicle recovery scheme manager.

Additional Information

Operators appointed to this framework receive a mandatory fixed fee for the recovery and storage of vehicles based on rates set by the Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles (Prescribed Sums and Charges.) Regulations 2008 (this regulation relates to the charges which can be levied by the Police following the removal of vehicles under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984). In addition the recovery and storage of vehicles and items not covered under the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 will be reimbursed on an agreed rate.
