Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
McAuley is an 11-18 Catholic Voluntary Aided Secondary School which serves Doncaster and surrounding areas. We achieved Academy status in May 2014. We are an oversubscribed, highly successful school that constantly strives to improve in every area of school life. Our examination results are well above the national average and as a result of this combined with our strong Catholic, Christian ethos means students thrive.
The catering contract being offered will commence on 1.8.2015 for an initial period of 3 years, concluding on 31.7.2018, and will be offered on a guaranteed performance basis.
The successful tenderer will be required to provide all catering and hospitality services at both upper and lower sites, which are located 0.5 miles apart, and the sixth form for The McAuley Catholic High School.
The contract offered covers the scope for the provision of all catering services within the School, which currently includes breakfast club, morning break, lunch, all hospitality and free issue requirements. Free school meals and hospitality will be charged based on consumption and at net food cost.
Whilst the School's objective of value for money is a priority, innovation and continued improvement of the current catering service throughout the contract term will be pivotal to the success of the new contract. The School is looking for a contractor who will continue to evaluate standards, process and procedures to reflect the high levels of achievement within the School.
In support of the School's high expectations of the catering service, bidders are required to ensure that The Living Wage is factored into their proposals for all catering employees and that a proactive approach is taken to catering staff training.
The School expects the successful contractor to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients such as bakery products being prepared on-site. Food for Life Silver accreditation reflects the minimum standard of catering required, with the expectation of achieving Gold standard within the first year of the contract.
The School invites bidders to consider offers of capital investment, to assist in upgrading and/or harmonising the current facilities across both sites and simultaneously alternative options for further catering investment are being actively investigated. The introduction of outside ‘food outlets’ is being considered for both sites and the upgrade of dining tables and chairs. This investment includes the introduction of a new Nationwide Biometric Cashless System in June 2015, in advance of the commencement of the new catering contract.
