Abstract

Interconnector Services (NI) Ltd. is a contracting services company within Mutual Energy Limited. Interconnector Services (NI) Ltd requests responses to this PQQ from competent entities to undertake maintenance inspection survey works of various submarine assets of Moyle Interconnector Ltd (Moyle); Premier Transmission Limited (PTL) and Belfast Gas Transmissions Ltd (BGTL).

Moyle, PTL and BGTL are also companies within Mutual Energy.

Moyle is the owner of 2 x 55 km of submarine power cables, part of the HVDC interconnector between Northern Ireland and Scotland and will be installing 2 additional 55 km submarine LV cables in the third quarter of 2015. PTL is the owner of a submarine gas pipeline between Northern Ireland and Scotland. BGTL is the owner of a gas pipeline within Northern Ireland which crosses Larne Lough and Belfast Lough. Both the PTL pipeline and the Moyle cables are in close proximity in the North Channel of the Irish Sea.

An inspection survey is planned for the sub-sea assets in early summer 2016 and this contract is for the provision of the survey works.

The gas pipelines were installed in 1996 and 1998 and the HVDC power cables installed in 2001, the new LV return cables are to be installed in the third quarter of 2015.

Inspection surveys of the HVDC cables and pipelines have been previously undertaken.

An inspection survey is required in 2016 in order to determine the on-going integrity of all of the assets.

This will include bathymetry, side scan sonar, depth of burial, visual inspection and cathodic protection testing. Reporting will also include comparisons with previous survey / as built data for all assets.
