Abstract

Flexibility is the ability to change generation and consumption to the benefit of the system. Using customer flexibility is one of our key strategic DSO priorities in 2017-2018.

Our flexibility programme is looking to utilise response from generators, demand side providers and electricity storage resources connected to our networks to support efficient network planning and operations. There can be various applications of flexibility, from facilitating outages to managing demand growth uncertainty on our investment decisions, with the ultimate goal of driving lower costs in customer energy bills.

Providers that are capable and interested in offering flexibility services to UK Power Networks are invited to register their interest by completing the questionnaire. We are particularly interested to hear from providers that can offer services from January 2018. Qualifying providers will be invited to participate in a tender later this year.
