Open Newtown through its service level agreement with Newtown & Llanwchaiarn Town Council (NLTC) is seeking a suitably qualified company, or a number of smaller companies, to oversee and facilitate the development of a new play area, some of which is to be new and some of which is to replace an existing facility.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:

Open Newtown will be open to any additional value added options within the proposal such as (but not limited to):

o Provision for incorporating some school pupil inclusion in the development – possibly as a facilitated half day session where a controlled number of school pupils are encouraged to visit the site during the construction phase i.e. the creation of a time capsule or something similar.

o After care service (outside of standard warranty inclusions).

o Any opportunities for apprentice roles to be created.

o An opportunity to engage the local Further Education College and some of its students (i.e. from the construction department, the arts department or the like).

The buyer considers that this contract is suitable for consortia bidding.
