Abstract

The new contract will build on the achievements of the VPA support unit provided by DAI and SGS, which developed regulations and tools and concentrated capacity building on the principle Government Agencies responsible for Forest Control. The VPA SU has also successfully supported a coalition of CSOs to develop a strategy to monitor forest governance reforms. It has helped establish a board to manage community project proposals financed through timber revenues. This new requirement will concentrate on building capacity of the private sector SMEs to engage new policies and requirements, to improve checks and balances across government services to secure greater accountability and with CSOs to monitor impacts. The total contract value is up to 8 000 000 GBP this is broken down as up to 6 000 000 GBP for the main contract and up to 2 000 000 GBP for the extension. Please note that this figure will include all applicable taxes.
