II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The Laurus Trust operates outstanding schools — we want our catering company to have all of the essential abilities and skills to provide an outstanding catering service to our students, staff and visitors at all our schools.
You should have the knowledge of how to provide exceptional dining experiences, be able to manage everyone around you and be able to address a concerning matter and take quick actions where required.
Providing a high quality and reliable catering service has a major effect on the whole learning experience for all our students, staff and visitors and this is why The Laurus Trust is passionate about having very high quality catering facilities, with excellent food choices which are nutritionally balanced for everyone. Having excellent customer care, the caterer should be polite, diplomatic and thoughtful while dealing with all our students, staff and visitors.
The way you operate in our schools is crucial to ensure customer satisfaction and to encourage students continue to use the facilities and enjoy the meal times.
Your menus and pricing structure need to be clear to the students so that they can understand exactly what the offer is to them. The Trust has spent a lot of time and money in ensuring we have good quality dining facilities where students can enjoy meal times and we have recently refurbished and extended our 6th form dining space at Cheadle Hulme High School.
We are looking for a refreshing and innovative approach that reflects, amongst other things, the changing profile of student life and their food preferences and types and preferred styles of dining.
It’s essential to The Laurus Trust that the contractors bidding for this tender think broadly about all issues and not just the core catering service to compete and be successful in obtaining the contracts of the schools within the Trust. We would like the contractors to always be on the lookout for new ways of doing things, coming up with new solutions for many common problems.
We need a contractor that will deliver service continuity, ensure standards are maintained and a contractor where the employees all take a high level of pride of their work, have ownership, are diligent, hardworking and always prepared to go the extra mile, be at work on time and turn up every day because they want to be part of our success, having a ‘here today – here tomorrow’ approach, In a large yet highly competitive market, it’s these often-forgotten factors that can be the difference between the provision of a good and an excellent catering service.
Contractors are requested to ensure they consider all the aspects of service delivery and think carefully about the catering requirements.
The Laurus Trust reserves the right to award the contract to one or more contractors and therefore invites contractors to submit bids for one or more of the schools. The Laurus Trust recognises that the schools each have unique characteristics and geographies which may suit different contractors, albeit there may be synergies to be gained in appointing one contractor across all 5 schools. We therefore created this flexible approach to the tender process.
Laurus Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle Hulme Primary School share the same site and will be awarded as one contract.
The Laurus Trust wants to ensure the level of service currently provided is maintained and even enhanced where possible, we need to be sure you can consistently deliver to our high expectations without excuses.
The Trust already knows that the successful provision of catering services is very much dependent on the development of a good working relationship between the client of a facility and the contractor’s catering manager and catering team on site. The contractor is expected to use its best endeavours to cultivate such a relationship to benefit the smooth running of each establishment.
Further information is provided in the tender documents.
