Abstract

Brief: Activity Plan Consultant Our Requirements Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway seeks a consultant to provide specialist support to prepare an Activity Plan for its Boston Lodge Works (BLW) project in the Development Phase between March and September 2020. This brief sets out the requirements for producing an Activity Plan in accordance with the NLHF guidance notes ‘Activity Planning Guidance’, Oct 2012. The plan is being commissioned as part of proposals to develop BLW. It will be a key document in support of a Round Two application to the NLHF to carry out the project. Part of the briefs for both Activity and Interpretation Planners includes Audience Development in the Development Phase where the two consultants should work independently, jointly and cooperatively with each other to produce a cohesive piece of work ensuring that Interpretation and Activities for intended audiences are rooted in consultation with potential audiences and some trialling and testing of both Activity and Interpretation. Expertise in specialisms such as working with learning programmes or hard to reach audiences is desirable. The consultant is required to ▪ Understand the history and context of the project ▪ Review and understand where the Client is now including understanding users ▪ Assess the organisation as it is today and the future requirements within the organisation to deliver the engagement programme ▪ Develop an understanding of non-users and potential audiences, including barriers and drivers to engaging with the heritage ▪ Consider comparators and competitors ▪ Carry out initial research and consultation with schools, local people, visitors and non-visitors, stakeholders and potential partners in order to make recommendations on appropriate activities to deliver the project aims to engage people and communities ▪ With the project team, develop a programme of community engagement activities to support the intended project outcomes, including a volunteer programme, public programme, learning programme and skills development programme ▪ Carry out detailed research and consultation with schools, local people, visitors and non-visitors, stakeholders and potential partners in order to test demand and interest in the proposed activities, and revise activities in light of any audience feedback ▪ Liaise with Project Manager, Architect Led Design Team, Business Planner and Interpretation Consultants, and ensure that evolving designs reflect Activity Plan needs ▪ In conjunction with the Project Manager and Evaluators, ensure that all baseline data for evaluation and reporting to NLHF is collected and acted upon ▪ Recommend management and resource structure for delivery of successful activities ▪ Produce a costed action plan and timetable for the activities to be agreed and adopted by the Client General Project Requirement for attendance on site, reports and meetings Expected, but not limited to · Monthly progress meetings · Monthly progress reports · Site meetings as reasonably required · Project workshop meetings as reasonably required · Subject specific meetings as reasonably required Fee £11,500 inclusive of all travel and expenses.
