Abstract

Pont Glan Yr Afon is a single span bridge that comprises of four longitudinal steel girders and a reinforced concrete deck slab bearing on masonry abutments. The proposed works include repairs and reconstruction of substructure and training wall elements, the introduction of scour protection measures to the existing foundations and intrusive investigations to determine the existing masonry abutment wall thicknesses, backfill properties and foundation extents. The downstream weir is managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW). The refurbishment of this element is not included within the scope of these works. It is currently assumed the weir will be removed in the future.

Pont Glan Yr Afon - Bridge Strengthening

2.2 Description of the goods or services required

Pont Glan Yr Afon is a single span bridge that comprises of four longitudinal steel girders and a reinforced concrete deck slab bearing on masonry abutments.
