II.1.4) Short description
As part of the Eastern Green Link Projects (EGL 3 & EGL 4) new connections will increase the
capability of the electricity transmission network between England and Scotland.
The general requirement is for a marine survey of two cable routes to inform of seabed
morphology and shallow sediment structure, and to provide benthic characterisation and
habitat maps. The planned marine cable routes are both East Coast UK, from Peterhead to
Lincolnshire and from Fife to Lincolnshire.
Lotting of the Requirements:
• Lot 1- EGL 3 Marine Cable Route Survey: approximately 500 km route from Peterhead to
Lincolnshire
• Lot 2 - EGL 4 Marine Cable Route Survey: approximately 450 km route from Fife to
Lincolnshire
The survey scope of work covers geophysical, geotechnical, topographic and environmental
sampling.

There may be parts of the EGL 3 and EGL 4 routeing which are similar and may be surveyed
as one.
The survey scope of work covers geophysical, geotechnical, topographic, and environmental
sampling.
Requirements for the scope are listed below:
-Obtain accurate Bathymetric (Inc. MBES/SBES) data
-Obtain accurate high-resolution Side Scan Sonar (SSS) data
-Obtain accurate high resolution Sub-Bottom Profiler (SBP) data
-Obtain high quality Magnetometer data
-Obtain high quality Benthic Grab Samples
-Obtain high quality soil samples
-Obtain high quality CPT/VC results
-Obtain high quality lab testing results of soil samples
-Obtain high quality topographic survey data
-Obtain high quality UAV imagery
-Data analysis and production of full and detailed Survey Reports in accordance with the
Technical Specification of the survey - to be issued at RFP stage
-Produce a conformant GIS deliverable package in accordance with the Technical
Specification of the survey
As an option
-Obtain high quality onshore geotechnical data at landfalls
-Obtain high quality onshore geophysical data at landfalls
Nearshore works shall include water depths of less than 10m LAT, offshore areas involve
water depths up to 120m LAT.
