Abstract
National Museum of Wales – Amgueddfa Cymru seeks to procure services to conduct a Capital Funding Feasibility Study for the consideration of potential options for the redevelopment of National Museum Cardiff.
The consideration for this redevelopment is currently at the first stage of the Welsh Government business case development stage – Strategic Outline Case – and explores variable options for the redevelopment.
This is part of a highly strategic programme to improve and develop Amgueddfa Cymru’s 100-year-old capital city museum to ensure a museum fit for future generations. The options are ambitious and inspirational; they have the potential to completely transform engagement with culture in Wales.
Any realised project would see National Museum Cardiff undergo extensive capital redevelopment, including new capital development. Welsh Government has given early support to enabling elements. Amgueddfa Cymru anticipates a mixed model of capital funding for such a programme to include, but not limited to, public funding, fundraised amounts from trusts & foundations and individuals and private sector funds.

Additional Information
A capital funding feasibility study is now required to critically examine the likelihood of securing funding with recommendations of a strategy to best achieve any likelihood. This is the next essential step in developing the financial case for the project, which will support the overall business case.
We seek to procure support to review a selection of the options and report on the feasibility and strategy for their funding. Work to be conducted from September, through to end of November.
Potentially, this initial piece of work may evolve to a further review of a refined option which the supplier contracted to deliver this initial work may be invited to be involved with.
Approach required
• Evidence based and data led
• Collaborative with all stakeholders external and internal fully consulted and involved
• Strategically aligned with Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales and a Wales based context
• Flexible and agile as the external environment continues to change
• Multi phased – we require the feasibility study to be reviewed at milestones throughout the programme e.g Outline Business Case and Full Business Case.
• A two part study – Part 1: the likelihood of funding Part 2: an informed strategy to secure such funding
