Scope of services
The Successful contractor will be required to provide:
Core Woodland Management:
• Tree health assessment and monitoring
• Pruning, crown reduction, and tree surgery
• Diseased/dangerous tree removal and replacement
• Woodland thinning and coppicing
• Path clearance and maintenance through wooded areas
• Firewood processing
Conservation & Heritage Considerations:
• Management aligned with the site’s historical significance
• Species – appropriate planting using native varieties based on historical planting plans
• Consideration of visual impact on historic buildings and landscapes
Ecological Management:
• Biodiversity enhancement and habitat creation
• Invasive species control
• Wildlife-friendly management practices
• Integration with existing conservation programmes
Visitor Safety & Access
• Regular safety inspection and risk assessments
• Emergency tree services (24/7 callout)
• Maintenance of woodland accessibility for future public events
• Coordination with museum operations and events
Approach required
• Consultation with museum Estate team on all interventions
• Use of traditional woodland management techniques where historically appropriate
• Consideration of sight lines to/from historic buildings
• Documentation of changes
