Abstract

The London Borough of Hackney has appointed 3 providers to a framework to provide Special Educational Needs Supported Internship placements for young people in the borough. A key objective of this framework will be for each intern to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to successfully enter the world of work, and will subsequently gain sustainable paid employment at the end of the programme.

The framework will be established for an initial duration of 24 months, with the option to extend for up to 24 further months in annual increments at the Council's discretion. The contract is anticipated to begin on 1st October 2025.

The estimated value of the framework is approximately £832,500 per annum, equating to £1,665,000 over the 2 years and up to £3,330,000 if it is extended for a further 2 years (in annual increments)

Supported Internships are a UK wide initiative that provide a balance between educational learning and work experience where interns are able to apply the skills learnt in practice.
