Description of the goods or services required

This contract is to manage extent of non-native Cotoneaster species at Prestatyn Hillside Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The area of working is cliffside and rope access may be required to safely survey some of the steeper or inaccessible areas of the site. Contractors will be expected to visit the site to assess methodology. See the ITQ for full details.

Total quantity or scope of tender

Management of invasive non-native Cotoneaster species and Red Valerian across approximately 3 hectares at Graig Fawr SSSI, Denbighshire. Works include rope-access survey, vegetation management, foliar herbicide application, weed wiping, stump treatment, removal and disposal of arisings, and protection of sensitive limestone grassland habitats and protected species. Contractors must hold appropriate herbicide qualifications (PA1 and PA6AW or equivalent) and suitable rope-access competence. All works to be completed by 30 October 2026

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Bidders must:

Hold appropriate Public Liability and Employers' Liability Insurance with a minimum value of £5 million.

Demonstrate experience of invasive non-native species management and habitat management works of a similar nature and scale.

Hold PA1 and PA6AW (or equivalent) qualifications for herbicide application.

Demonstrate competence in rope-access working. A minimum IRATA Level 3 operative (or equivalent) must be available on site when undertaking rope-access activities.

Provide suitable risk assessments and method statements prior to contract award.

Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and biosecurity requirements.

Be able to complete all works and submit invoices by 30 October 2026.
