Cwmbach Wetlands Pathway Project

Description of the goods or services required

Work requirement at Cwmbach Wetlands, Aberdare.

1. Ground preparation for pathways, the formation of a new path (along an existing informal route) and construction and finish of path using type 1 stone with 0-6mm topping, path is approximately 700mx1.5m.

2. Construction of Pontoon/Viewing platform with fencing, over the wetlands at an agreed point off an RCT pathway, approximately 4mX5m in size. This will be situated in standing water, so will require long lasting materials.

3. Include and follow a traffic management plan (for walkers on pathway) when undertaking the works.

As this site is bio-diverse and a highly sensitive environmental location, contractors will be required to follow a combined construction ecological management plan and ecological mitigation enhancement and management plan that will be supplied by Down to Zero Ltd.

• Contractors are asked to price the works based on the work requirements detailed above, a site visit will be required prior to tender.

• This project must be delivered and completed between September 2026 and March 2027, this is to ensure ecological compliance.

• Payment schedule can be discussed with the successful tenderer at the pre-commencement meeting.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Must have agriculture and forestry experience. Must demonstrate strong ecological mitigation measure and experience working with NRW desirable.

References and evidence of similar previous works are essential

Prior to the Principal Contractor’s appointment, they must demonstrate to the client that they have a suitable level of organisational capability in terms of health and safety to enable them to manage this construction project and comply with their duties under CDM 2015.

The Principal Contractor must ensure that adequately trained and competent individuals are allocated to this project
