Abstract
Covert Coch, part of RSPB Ynys-hir on the Dyfi Estuary, is a globally rare estuarine raised bog and a key component of the highly protected UNESCO Biosphere. Due to historical drainage, planting, and cutting, the peatland is now degraded.
RSPB Cymru has secured funding to design the next phase of restoration and is seeking an external consultant to deliver Project Output 2:
Project Output 2: We will commission a fully designed and costed solution to remove and bund two failing historical drainage sluices on Covert Coch. This is essential to prevent catastrophic re-drainage and protect previous restoration gains.
We have agreed a variation with the funder - rather than appointing an engineer, we will commission a consultant with a background in peatland restoration. You will draw on both external expertise and in-house RSPB technical knowledge to co-design a robust, costed nature-based solution and prepare documents ready for tendering.
