Honey Tank Farm in Production Room

Description of the goods or services required

Hilltop Food Group operates a honey manufacturing and packing facility and requires the supply, delivery and installation of stainless steel process and storage vessels, associated mixers, pipework and ancillary process equipment within the production room.

The requirement comprises, indicatively:

Supply and installation of new stainless steel (grade 316L, product-contact surfaces) mixing/storage vessels, approximately 10,000 litre capacity each (quantity to be confirmed at tender), atmospheric design, suitable for use with viscous food products (runny honey, approx. 1.2 specific gravity), each fitted with a top-entry mixer suitable for the product viscosity and duty, hygienically designed and finished (internal welds ground flush and polished, mill certificates for all product-contact material).

Relocation, refurbishment/recommissioning and reinstallation of existing stainless steel (316) mixing vessels currently in the Contracting Authority's possession (approx. 8,900 litre capacity, quantity 2), including verification/upgrade of fittings, sample points, level probes and CIP connections as required.

Supply and installation of associated stainless steel process pipework, valves, fittings and CIP (clean-in-place) connections linking the vessels into the existing production process.

Delivery, offloading, positioning and installation of all vessels and equipment at the Contracting Authority's site, including any lifting plan, cranage and associated health & safety documentation required for safe installation.

Vessels and associated equipment must be supplied hygienically designed and finished to a standard suitable for food manufacturing use, with all product-contact welds dye-penetrant tested and vessels hydrostatically tested prior to delivery, and full mill certification supplied for product-contact materials.

Bidders should note that exact vessel quantities, dimensions and connection configurations are subject to final design and site survey, and should price on the functional specification above; a detailed technical specification and site drawing pack will be issued as part of the tender documents.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Evidence of at least two similar projects completed in the last 5 years involving design, fabrication and/or installation of stainless steel process or storage vessels for food, drink or pharmaceutical manufacturing (references required).

Public/products liability insurance — minimum £5,000,000 per occurrence.

Employer's liability insurance — minimum £5,000,000 (statutory minimum in most cases; confirm your own requirement).

Financial standing — minimum annual turnover reasonably proportionate to contract value (commonly no more than 2x contract value, to avoid unfairly excluding capable smaller suppliers).

Evidence of welding competence/certification appropriate to hygienic/food-grade fabrication (e.g. coded welders, quality management to EN ISO 3834 or equivalent).

Awareness of and compliance with food safety/hygienic design standards relevant to food-contact equipment (e.g. EHEDG guidelines, BS EN 1672-2).

Health & safety accreditation — SafeContractor, CHAS, Constructionline (or equivalent/self-certification with supporting evidence).

Method statement and risk assessment required at tender stage covering site installation, lifting operations and any works around live production areas.
