Abstract

Crynant Community Council have applied for funding from the Pride in Place and Neighbourhood Improvement Programme for an upgrade to the Teenage park. It currently has some fixed play equipment, following consultation the council would like to provide new climbing wall/ modular play facility. Tenders are invited from playground companies to supply and install the new equipment in the existing Teenage park with an emphasis on provision for 12-16 years olds. Any new design should include for new fixed play equipment and Safety Surfacing. In addition the Council is looking to provide skate park facilities within the existing multi use games area incorporating the flat bank corner box and jumps to be installed on existing tarmac surface.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

BS EN 1176: The British and European safety standard for playground equipment, covering structural integrity, entrapment risks, fall protection, guardrails, access systems, and durability.

BS EN 1177: Safety requirements for playground surfacing, ensuring it can safely absorb impact from specific equipment heights.

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974: Places a duty on employers to ensure playgrounds are safe for users.

Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999: Requires formal risk assessments and implementation of control measures.
